Don’t miss Oktoberfest opening weekend

Tour operator: The Fanatics
Prices from: £189

The 16 day beer drinking extravaganza, held in Munich, Germany every year is the world’s largest beer festival, where thousands of people from all over the world come to pit their livers and their sanity against some of Germany’s best beers.

You’d be forgiven for thinking the festival was run in October, yet it starts on 17th September, only running until the 3rd October – to allow for warmer weather during the event.

It’s tradition for the Mayor of Munich to tap the first beer, (essentially opening a barrel) and probably having a damn good swig of it to mark the start of the year’s occasion.

Other non compulsory rules which will certainly make things more fun (and give you more brownie points with the locals) are dressing in the famous lederhosen attire, and partaking in a classic Bavarian dance. Don’t worry, you won’t care about looking stupid after your tenth stein.

Tour Dates: 15th – 20th September 2016
