Dig out those rollerblades and old-school scrunchies because The 90’s Brunch – a joyous celebration of all things ’90’s dreamed up by Boogie Bear and Team – is back! Last weekend, it made its glorious return to the capital, complete with a soundtrack of the decade’s best-loved hits and enough feather boas to rival the Spice Girls’ collection.

After receiving a last-minute notification of a secret location, nostalgic revellers queued to enter Clapham North’s Fu Munchu before being welcomed by a mimosa and a scene that can only be described as an explosion in a fancy dress box.

The scene was set for an all-out day of partying – tastefully exposed brickwork had been plastered over with colourful posters and blow up palm trees and giant pineapples were circulating the venue. The DJ was elevated on a podium at the back of the room, wearing a shocking pink wig and a pair of outrageous sunglasses (what else?).

90s-1
The first hour consisted of unlimited cocktails which guests fully took advantage of and gave the brunch a feel reminiscent of a rather boozy hen party that had spiralled out of control. This was all part of the fun once you immersed yourself in the theme and donned a bright blue wig. If you think you’re in for a sophisticated banquet, look elsewhere – this is straight-up 90’s cheese at its finest!

The day had a focus on keeping guests entertained, with a gang of roller skaters performing tricks, hula-hoop acts on stage, glitter bombing and transfer tattoos, there wasn’t a dull moment. As well as some great entertainment that really whips up the party atmosphere, there were air guitar competitions galore, lip sync battles and even an onsite donut factory where party goers pump donuts with their own fun filling.
